DEAD PLANTS - plants (indoor)

We were shopping for plants in the WAL MART STORE #1497 in Matteson, Illinois. The plants which were inside were nearly DEAD!!! They had some marked 1/2 price, but the majority of them were NOT. I saw several overhead hoses... Not sure if they were for watering use, but i heard a lot of loud obnoxious employees, not doing much but cutting up... Why couldn't or haven't ANY of these employees watered the poor dying plants? This was the indoor gardening area.
How can WalMart let plants die like this???

At the checkout, we asked the girl where were the HOSE WANDS? She said she didn't know what that was... When i told the husband, we can find them @ Menards, she THEN said, want me to go ask someone... This was AFTER we had payed for our purchases...
