Admiral Services contacted me for a special offer of maintenance on my home air conditioner. For only $39.95 they would check all units, clean any exterior units with a waterhose, check the coil and fill with freon if needed. This is all included for just $39.95. However, this is what really happened:

I call Admiral back to start the process since my A/C stopped working. They came out on July 31st, Thursday and said that the coil needed to be replace which would cost $3850.00. It supposedly did not need freon so they did not add any and when I questioned the fact of washing the exterior unit with a waterhose as promised, the guy said that it needed to be acid washed which is more money, so I said nevermind. As far as the upstairs goes, they claimed that they couldn't even look at the coil because the unit was welded shut.

After they left my husband went up there with a screwdriver and easily pulled the cover off to expose the coil, which was well intact. We then called our home warranty company out and they filled the unit with freon which was deffinately low and the unit has worked fine since. I immediatly called Admiral back to try to get my money refunded. I was told that the office manager, David, would call back Tues.

I have since reported them to the Better Business Bureau and they are still awaiting a response. I cant' beleive they would go through all this for $40. I guess if they ripoff enough people that will really add up. I however could really use that money.
