Kept Mailing Catalogs After Repeated Opt-Out Requests

Some time ago a home appliance catalog from a Home Depot affiliate came in my mail. I carried it personally to the manager on duty at our local Home Depot and said that our continued business depended on getting no more solicitations whatsoever from Home Depot or anything affiliated with it.

An appliance for my home was something I bought at that store in April. During the sale I mentioned to the clerk that this purchase must not lead to any solicitations. She brought up my customer record on a screen, showed me it carried an "opt out" mark, and promised that nothing would be sent.

Another Expo catalog arrived on May 1. At the local store I asked for an explanation, and the manager told me the "opt-out" mark on my record covered e-mail only, while postal mailings were the corporate office's responsibility. I sent a protest letter dated May 1 to the Atlanta, GA corporate headquarters of Home Depot, directing them to delete my name from their databases once they had cashed the rebate check they still owed me. A reply dated May 21 said Home Depot wanted to resolve my complaint.

Yet another Home Depot ad reached me on May 28. I sent a certified letter to the corporate office at once, objecting that they had not removed me from their mailing list, and included the offending mailing. Postal tracking shows it was delivered.

Another sales pitch from Home Depot landed in my mailbox on June 7. As it appears they will not drop me from their junk mail list voluntarily, I am submitting a USPS Form 1500 about them.
