Ripoff false promises

I belive I am being ripped off. I am fortunant by the fact they are just making alot of excuses why they cannot start our house. The house we chose was a oblong, box with "A" frame truses. Nothing out of the ordinary about it.

We were told we would be in our house by Christmas. That was in Sept. 2002. It is now October 23, and nothing has been done except the survey.

We have been told that the changes to the plans has caused the problems. We enlarged it by 12 feet. That was all!

Based on them promising us a move-in date, we put our house up for sale, and it has been sold. We have to be out on 12/20! And no new house to move into!

To day is 10/23/02, and I have called Tampa and talked to the "head man". He asured me he would call us back, Iam not holding my breath. I would like to get out of the contract, and have a friend of mine build it. He said it would be Christmas if we start building now.

Maybe someone out there can help us before we get ripped off to the point of the other poor people that have listed here. Any Help?
