Ripoff caused great hardships

We decided to build a Jim Walter home in October. They had us sign all the papers and said the building would begin in about a month. The building of the house did not start until May.

One builder was used the build the entire house. So it took the builder quite some time to get the house done. We liked the builder, he was very polite and did a good job. He offer to change things inside the house, modify rooms, create vaulted ceilings, cathedral ceiling in the living room which we thought was good.

The builder told us to get permission from Jim Walter and he would make the modifications. We tried for weeks to get some one at the Tallahassee Jim Walter Homes office to call us. We left multiple messages, and we even stopped into the office to say what we needed. No one ever contacted us. The builder made the changes anyway. Later a Jim Walter Representative approved the changes and promised to modify the plans. He never modified the plans, and the house has never passed the building inspection.

We have been paying a mortgage on this house for over a year, and the house has not been finished by Jim Walter. They have accused us of building the house, modifying the house ourselves. They constantly say things that are not true about how the changes came about and who authorized them. They have been unwilling to make things right.

We are a family of six. We are honest hard working people. Jim Walter has caused our family great hardships. We are paying for this house that cannot be lived in, and we are also renting until we can resolve the issue. We have suffer many things all because we trusted this company to do the right thing. Don't let this happen to you.
