HH Gregg / james Turner Refusal to rectify delivery and installation of damaged appliances

We ordered all new GE top of the line kitchen appliances from hhgreg in Fort Wayne, Jan 23. We had recently purchased a new washer and dryer from them, had a good experience, good applicanes and we liked the salesman, Jon Shaffer.
We ordered a new refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and gas stove. The cost was in excess of $5000.
I was not able to be home when the appliances were delivered, as I work during the week. My wife was left with to contend with the hhgreg deliverymen.
The deliveries were made on feb 4th. The dishwasher did not fit the normal opening, so my wife called me at work and we mutually agreed with the recommendation of the hhgregg person to have the "too large" GE replaced with a Bosch unit. He was to deliver that the next day.
During the installation of the refrigerator, my wife noticed a large scratch on one side. She agreed to a $100.00 dollar reduction on the price. The stove could not be installed until the 7th because they did not have the proper gas lines with them.
On Thursday the 8th, my wife noticed a dent on the refrigerator below the scratch, and also a dent in the front panel of the Bosch dishwasher.
I called HHgreg immedialtly, and was told we would get called back in 20 minutes. Well, 24 hours later a gentleman named James Turner called and informed us hhgreg had no responsibilty to rectify the damaged goods they had delivered. He had the Gull to say WE had done the damage.
He said my wife had "accepted" the condition with her signature on the delivery ticket. Since when is it the responsibilty of the customer to inform the dealer of damage? Why were we delivered damaged goods in the first place? OR is this the normal MO of a dishonest company to deliver damaged appliances, hoping the customer won't notice until it is "too late"???
