Doesn't finish the job: left before work was completed

Bob told me that he would retile and paint my bathroom for $2500 for everything including materials. He must have underbid himself (although he has been in the business for years).

I gave him the full amount in cash. Now, he says I owe him for labor to the tune of more than $4,000. I had to call him when I wanted him to complete the work, which he did some of, but not all.

He painted the wall a color I did not choose and left much of the wall untiled. He gets defensive if I try to talk to him, and says that he is finished.
