American Made Furniture Straight From China

My wife and I visited a local Thomasville store to but some "American made" furniture. After 2-1/2 hours in the store left left after purchasing a bedroom set that consisted of a king size bed frame, two dressers, one mirror and two night tables to the amount of just over $6000.00

The saleslady that helped us, we would find out lied and lied and lied to us during the whole sales process. First, it was the matching leather recliner sofa and recliner. Although we liked it we informed our saleslady that we had a cat and that it wouldn't be practicle. She assured us that the leather that Thomasville uses would hold up to cats and other pets and if by chance anything should happen repair would be guaranteed through their warranty program.

We were concerned about a large spot that was on the arm of the sofa and on the foot rests. We were told that the sofa and chair would be detailed and arrive looking brand new as if it had just arrived from the factory.

The day the sofa and chair were being delivered, a week later than promised, the delivery guys were given the wrong address by Thomasville. When they arrived they had not been touched and the stains were still on the sofa. A call to the store brought the excuse that they decided not to do the work before hand just in case the furniture was scuffed during transfer. They promised to send someone to look at it.

We were soon contacted and arrangments were made for someone to come out and detail our furniture. The gentlement that shoed up told us that he never heard of such a thing as detailing furniture and that he inspects the furniture and repairs them when possible.

He told us that the chances of the stain coming out were very minute and that he would write up a report stating that Thomasville should replace the affected areas. He did suggest a special leather cleaner for auto interiors that he said might help a little. To both of our surprise the cleaner did take everything out.

The bedroom furniture when ordered, we were told would take about 3-4 weeks to arrive as it is made when ordered then shipped up from the Carolinas. Five weeks later we had to call to see where our furniture was. At first we worked through our saleslady, but she wouldn't call us back with the delivery information. We decied to speak with others, but everyone kept giving us different answers. Finally, after another 3 weeks the furniture arrived, but not before the the delivery people were once again sent to the wrong location.

When they arrived and started to bring the furniture in I noticed that the furniture had decals in stating "made in China".in my dresser I found a piece of paper stating not to put anything rubber or plastic on the furniture because the stain had "plastisers" in it and the plastic and rubber would drae it out and leave black marks on the furniture that will not come out.

Upset we called corporate to complain because this is not what we ordered. We had ordered American made furniture. We were informed the following;
first, all stores are independently owned and they just lease the Thomasville name. Secondly, the majofirty of their furniture comes from China but are made by "master craftsmen" trained by Thmoasville. If we had a complaint we should put it in writing and send it to the corporate office and they would talk to this particular store, but all complaints should go directly to that store and it was up to them as to how they would handle it.

Another note of caution, once you sign for your order it will cost you 25% restocking to cancel an order. They don't bother to tell you that most states have 72 hour period to rescind a major purchase like that. We spent over $6000 for what amopunt to be about $3500 worth of furniture in reality.
