Of Sarasota Kitchen problems from the start

I read another report about Kirkplan now located in Sarasota Florida. They are a kitchen "renovation" company... Call them what you will. I hired them almost 2 years ago and from the start there were problems. They had to build several cabinets, reface my existing boxes and install new doors and install new countertops. The refacing was a problem and the installer had little idea of what he was doing. The laminate when applied was left overnight and the next day most flat surfaces had bubbled. I requested that the repair those areas. I was told it needed to dry longer. The edged were the laminate came together (front to sides) was all trimmed incorrectly. Some of the cuts actually cut into the laminate leaving it to look like chips.

When the prebuilt cabinets were installed, the rails that the drawers would slide along were not fastened in the back causing the drawer to fall when pulled open and they scrapped as the came out. I had to complain about that to have it repaired. The installer himself did not even stop to fix the problem. It was left for me to find. I selected a maple laminate for the boxes to match the new maple doors. When the doors were put on the laminate and doors were totally different colors. It was explained to me that the two product came from two seperate companies and they could not get me a match. Mean while when I paid them 12,000. No one ever mentioned to me this was going to be a problem. Everything in the beginning was going to match and be perfect. NOT SO! Once the boxes and doors were installed I assumed someone would be out the next day to install my countertops. Wrong! I had to wait another week at least before some of the countertop was installed. I had a kitchen for at least a week with no countertops. I could not understand why anyone after making me already wait 2 months from signed contract date would not have all the supplies they needed to do my job.

I finally did get my countertops installed after calling daily, I was told someone would be there each day as the week passed. This company was a nightmare to deal with. My wife and I were so excited to have 12,000. This company blew the wind out of our sails. A month ago I made several calls to them because the laminate on the doors is now peeling off. Wilsonart is the door manufacturer. The person on the phone told me they were having problems BUT now I would have to pay Kirkplan the labor to replace the doors as they were not under warranty. The doors were but not the labor. I asked the price and was told 250.00. I agreed to pay it just to have them fixed...

No one has ever come out to do the work. I have not called them for the 3rd time, the more I thought about it the less I want them back to my home. I will only end up with more problems and more anger and frustration. If your thinking of this company... Read on the internet about them. Do you leg work! They did not take my money and skip but they did take my money and made me wait on them for months to get the job done...
