Freedom Moving And Storage
A complete rip off and they lost my merchandise!

Construction & Repair

Freedom Moving and Storage claims that their number one priority is customer satisfaction. Throughout this entire ordeal, I can honestly say that I have never been more dissatisfied with a company. I decided to use Freedom Moving and Storage because they allowed for 2 pick ups and drop offs on the same truck. Both myself and Sara Namin were moving from Charlotte, NC to Bloomfield, NJ. Our original contact was Naomi at Extension 204, and it was decided to have our pick-up date to be July 25th. I received a call the day before the move and was told that both my and Saras belongings would be picked up between 12pm-3pm. Sara took a day off from work and I arranged my day to make sure that I was home between the specified period.By 3:00pm, no movers had arrived at either house and no one had made any attempt to contact us. Finally, by 5:00, after numerous phone calls, we received word that the movers were running late and would not be there until later that night. The movers finally arrived at my house at 9:30pm (over 6 hours later than the time period). Moreover, neither of the two movers was told anything about the second pick up. They even asked me if they could go sleep and come back in the morning to pick up our belongings. I told them that that was not possible, and they took both of our belongings. I filled out an itemized list, however the movers never asked Sara to fill out any list or sign any forms.
The contract stated that all belongings would be delivered in 2-10 business days. Monday, August 8th was the 10th business day, so I knew that my and Saras belongings would be delivered by August 8th. I received a call on Tuesday, August 2nd from Naomi that the delivery would occur on either Saturday, August 6th or Sunday, August 7th, and that I would receive a call 24-48hrs in advance of my delivery.By Friday, I had not received any calls, so both Sara and I called numerous times, and received no calls back. I did not hear from anyone on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday of that weekend. On Monday, August 8th, I had still not received any calls so both Sara and I again called. I finally spoke with Hiam in the dispatch department, and he told me that the truck had broken down, and he did not know when I would receive my belongings. I decided to have my parents get involved, and both Naomi and Hiam returned my fathers phone calls rather quickly. I was finally told that my belongings would be in New Jersey on Monday, August 15th.

My belongings did not arrive at my apartment until Tuesday, August 16th. I was originally told by the first driver to have a check for $1018.00 for the delivery. When the driver arrived on the 16th, he told me that I needed a check for $1087.00, although no one had told me about this amount. Furthermore, when the truck was unloaded, numerous items of both mine and Saras were missing. I contacted Hiam in the dispatch department, and he told me that he would check in the storage room. He never returned my phone call, so I kept calling him. Finally, on Wednesday, August 18th, he told me that my items were not in the storage room, and he was still waiting to see if they were anywhere on the truck. Again, after hearing nothing from Hiam, I kept calling and he told me that half of my items were nowhere to be found. I lost a large number of expensive and more importantly personal items due to the incompetence of Freedom Moving and Storage.

Furthermore, of my belongings that did arrive, my desk and dresser were broken. The desk leg was cracked and pushed under the desk and the dresser was chipped.
I am extremely displeased with the services provided by Freedom Moving and Storage. I fully understand that there are events beyond our control that occur, but I have never felt more disrespected by any company. There was an extreme lack of communication between myself, the home office, and the movers. Not only did no one communicate any information with me, but they ignored all my attempts to communicate with them. I fully intend to report Freedom Moving and Storage to the Better Business Bureau in Atlanta as well as the Department of Transportation. I also intend to contact NBC News Investigators in Atlanta to report my dissatisfaction.

My original quote for the move was $1426.00, and $713.00 was paid at pick-up. The movers decided that the final price was $1731.00, so $1018.00 was left to pay at delivery. I expect monetary compensation for my struggles and dissatisfaction.
