Moving ripoff Hostage movers is a better name, bad business overall

This is a copy of the claim I was advised to file after Freedom Moving & Storage lost my dresser.

It was inevitable that this claim was going to happen and I expect full repayment of my loss due to Freedom Moving & Storage's negligence, ineffective decision-making, and disrespectful treatment of me as a paying customer. I say that because I have been talked to, ignored by, and treated as if they were paying me or doing me a favor.

It started with the pickup of my furniture. I was contacted by Freedom Moving & Storage and asked could my pickup date be changed from January 21 to the 22nd. I agreed since I would be in Atlanta until the 22nd. On the 22nd, the movers came to my gated complex and stayed outside the gate for an hour calling me in Tennessee, saying that that was the only number that they had for me. I guess it was beyond the scope of their ability to scroll through the directory and find my name.

After leaving a message with the dispatch department, I received a call and we agreed that the movers would pickup up my shipment after they finished the job that they were currently working on. Around 8pm, I received a call stating that it was too late to deliver and that they would pickup on Monday, January 23. Since I had to be at work the next morning, I had to pay someone to stay at my apartment for the delayed pickup. I left a check for $500.

We scheduled the delivery for February 13. I had verbally agreed with Andy that the balance due was $700, which was consistent with the documents I had in my possession from Freedom Moving & Storage. The movers did not show up until 11:30pm. I guess that too late reason stated above no longer applied. Upon arrival, I was advised by Shane that it would be an additional $475 for steps and the distance from the truck to my apartment. I refused to pay that amount because that was not what was agreed upon.

A call was made to the supervisor Johnny was berated me as a liar for not disclosing that I was on the 3rd floor. I had told Naomi at the time I agreed to contract with the company that I lived on the 3rd floor and that I was moving to the 3rd floor. There was never a mention of $75 per 7 steps, hence $375, which is a rip-off. Johnny said that he would discount the additional cost to $275. I asked if it was possible to send a post-dated check since it was now after midnight and I didn't have access to funds. He refused and ordered the drivers to return the shipment to Atlanta, which they did.

The next day, I received a call from Andy apologizing for the mix-up and proposed that for an additional $100 on the $700 we had previously agreed upon, I could take delivery of my shipment. I agreed to pay the balance of $800 for my shipment. On February 28, I was contacted at least three times for delays in the delivery which originally was to occur between 11am and 1pm. I was finally contacted by the driver at 12am, on March 1 asking if he could deliver at 6am. I agreed and the movers showed up around 7am. Upon unloading my shipment, they realized that my dresser was missing. I still paid the full amount due of $800; however, I had not received my dresser.

I contacted Freedom Moving & Storage and then the games began again. No one would return calls without me calling back. I contacted Mr. Yaniv Grundman, president, at his residence because I was not getting anywhere with his employees. He promised that someone would call me and Andy did call. However, after that point I kept getting, I'll call you by the end of business, which twice that did not happen. Finally, I was advised that Freedom Moving & Storage could not locate my dresser and was provided with the toll-free number to file my claim.
