Dishonest and right out fraudulent Sale from Sears Home Improvement

T Elhusseini, a Sears home improvement products' employee, visited us at our residence for the discussion of the purchase of a Carrier heater, per our request through Sears' website. After the discussion, we agreed to go with the Infinity 80 series. Tarek said his inventory showed two units in stock, and set up the installation date. We did not mention any Sears and/or Kenmore heaters during his stay. On the day of installation, Saturday, the installer called and informed us from the warehouse, that our unit was unavailable, and said the earliest date he could install the unit would be the coming Tuesday or Wednesday.

We discovered later the heater was not a Carrier, that we discussed and agreed to buy when Mr. Tarek was at our residence. I had called and left many messages on Mr. Tarek's cell phone. He never returned any of my calls. I had to call his office and explained our problem with Bill McClure. Bill, then, sent us a Kenmore tag. I called Bill again and he turned our complaint to Jennifer Lecompte. Jennifer called my wife at home, and asked my wife what was written on the contract, as well as why we did not like heater other than Carrier, even if the product was better.

My wife said that was not the idea. We wanted to get what we bought, not a substitute, without our knowledge. Mr. Tarek finally replied to my email, saying we should get what was on the contract. The contract spelled out for a Heil heater instead of a Carrier, Infinity 80 Series. I expect this action from a fly-by-night, not from Sears, a trusted and big company. We are not expert in knowing heater model number and who makes it before the installation is a done-deal.

All we know is to pay for the Carrier heater product and the installation, carried out by Sears' sub-contractor. It looks as though, Sears Home Improvement Products will try getting out of this bad, deceitful and unpleasant deal, based on the outright illegal action committed by its employee, Mr. Tarek. We would like your help in publicizing this case, so no others will have to go through this shady and illegal action from Sears.
