The carpet developed stretching 2 months after installation due to cracking of a backing. The manufacturer did not admit the carpet was defective. Two years later the problem still exists. My e-mail complaint was ignored

Construction & Repair

More than two years ago, the new carpeting was installed in our house. All carpets were bought from Shaw Industries, Inc. Via ProSource Wholesale Floorcoverings and installed by CARPETS FLOORS & MORE of Columbus, OHIO. One of the brands, i.E., BREDENBURY, was installed in our family room and master suite (master bedroom, sitting room, walk-in closet). Two month later, the batch of carpet installed in the master suite started showing stretching, with more and more waves appearing continuously. Upon our report, the installation company sent an expert, who concluded that the carpet was defective. The manufacturer, Shaw Industries, Inc., did not accept the conclusion of the expert, and sent his own expert, whose expertise lasted only 3-5 minutes, during which he did not even bother to lift up the carpet to see the backing. His firm conclusion was that the carpet was installed improperly and it needs just to be reinstalled. When the installer lifted up the carpet to remove it, he found out and pointed to us and his boss that the backing of the carpet developed cracking all over and separation from the top.interestingly to mention, that after the carpets were installed, I found a small piece of this Bredenbury carpet with the separated backing. I expressed my concern to my husband, but later we forgot about it and disposed of all remnants. Despite the report by the installation company and ProSource to the manufacturer, the manufacturer refused to send another expert or do something. It's been the third year that we live with the carpet lifted from the floor and developing more and more waves. A month ago, I filed a complaint with the SHAW INDUSTRIES, INC. Via e-mail. So far, nobody bothered to respond, or at least to notify me that they received my e-mail.
