Ripoff Do Not forward placed on billing statement charge customer $25.00 a month late fee

Incident = Short version: We moved from California to Florida and put in a forwarding address with the Post office. We even rented a Post office box to ensure we received all of our mail during the move.

After five months we received a call from a collection agency on behalf of Home Depot. I called Home Depot and they said the billings had been returned to them as they have a notice on their billing envelopes stating do not forward. No attempt was made to contact us and they turned it over to a collection agency. I requested a copy of the billing statements verified they were my wifes charges and sent them a check for the full amount minus the late charges of $125.00. My wife spends the money and I pay the bills. The late fee was twenty five a month. Phone calls and letters have been exchanged protesting the late charges and they won't budge stating if the late fees are not paid they will turn it over to a collection agency as it is our fault we should have told them we moved.

I was informed by one of their employees that they have since discontinued the policy of not forwarding mail because of problems caused with other customers just like my situation. They could have sent a letter or made a simple phone call. I pay all bills monthly in full and had no reason to suspect that my mail was being withheld. They are culpabe of causing this and then fining me because they with held the billing statements.

They have been very unpleasent to deal with and when you ask to talk to a supervisor to complain they told us my supervisor doesn't take calls. The executives of Home Depot do not respond to letter or written complaints.
