Late Fee and Late Payment Reported After Address Change

We moved to a new home and went into Home Depot to purchase plantation shutters. They had a sale and offered 1 year interest free. We were specific about the fact that our address had changed for the billing and installation. Two months later, we received a late notice from Home Depot Credit. No problem with our address now.

I called and spoke with a customer rep, who didn't care one bit and said he would remove the late fee if I paid off the balance. I was not going to pay a late fee, so I paid off the full amount. A few months later, I was checking my credit report and noticed they had filed a late payment on it. I called, and they said there was nothing they could do and that I would have to go to the credit reporting companies to get it removed, or at least try to. I told them to keep their card.

I would never have filed this, but now I am getting pre-approved offers to apply for an HD credit card with no interest for 6 months. Be careful dealing with these offers by Home Depot. I talked with the store manager, and he said he could do nothing because Home Depot Credit was completely separate from Home Depot. I go to Lowe's now.
