Sears Auto Center Fraud - Sears Auto Center Lee Blvd, NY

Fraudulent! Do NOT go to Sears auto center in Jefferson Valley, NY. We did not learn our lesson the first time (a whole other story) and took our car back to Sears for a check engine light that has been on for a while. My husband asked them to change the spark plugs and do a basic tune-up. We got a call from the Sears mechanic saying that our catalytic converter was rusted shut, so there fore could not be driven off the lot, and the car needed tons of work. So basically we were held hostage. We couldn%u2019t drive the car to get a second opinion. We ended up paying over $1000, and the check engine light came back on one day later! To add insult to injury %u2013 about one month after this debacle, we took our car to a reputable local mechanic for our check engine light and showed him the paperwork from Sears. This mechanic worked on our car and when we came to pick it up he handed us a filthy air filter. Sears had charged us for an air filter and on the paperwork documented an oil change %u2013 but they never replaced the air filter and this mechanic told us that the oil was very old and mucky, so obviously Sears didn%u2019t change the oil, either. Not to mention the engine codes that Sears had listed on our paperwork did not check out with the work they claim they did. This is FRAUD! Our mechanic also told us that there is absolutely no reason that the car could not have been driven off the lot because of a catalytic converter being rusted on. We were manipulated and forced to do business with Sears %u2013 NEVER AGAIN!
