Pathetic Customer Support - HP officejet 5510

Usually I have the words to articulate an experience, but my experience with HP has been so horrendous it defies words. I have no less than 5 HP products, printers and cameras, and simply called to install online a printer that had been purchased in 2003 (5510 ALL IN ONE. Yep, I understand products go out of warranty, yep, I get it may not be particularly profitable to continue to support printers with tech issues that are older models. But this printer has no tech issues. I just called because I have a new CPU I am using without a drive to read the install disc for this printer. I asked tech support to guide me through the online install, which was unsuccessful, although I have the same operating system as my previous CPU and no interfering (ie competing) software installed. I got the same response over and over, and an offer to continue to speak with me at $34.99/hour. And then I was told by the 3rd person I spoke with that they don't really "know about XP"—that is an MS product. How ridiculous! I will never buy another HP product until they have proven they can adequately support the investments of their consumers. Period.
