Bad Customer Serice - Microsoft Surface

Computers & Services

In October when first seeing advertisement for Surface called them to find out how to pre-order so would get it in time for Christmas. While on the phone with them specified it was to be for Christmas. I then went on line to place pre-order Surface 64 with added protection - $850.00. Also on order form specified it was for Christmas and included a Christmas note to the recipient. Got it last week of October and put it away in closet. Our family member opened it on Christmas and found it lacking - could not load certain apps - so not usable for what he intended and wanted to return it. Called them DEc 27 and was told only had 30 days from purchase. They also told me I should have known to read the note at bottom of invoice to check and read their return policy that was printed out on a different page. I did not notice the note nor did I even think to check on a return policy as I have, for many, many years shopped early at places like Amazon, Sears, JCP, QVC, etc. And always specified items were for Christmas, kept items in good condition, and had receipt with honest reason for return, NEVER, EVER had a problem until now. If I had known, I would have never purchased it. Anyway, I am a retiree and now out all that money, cannot afford to replace the item with something else, and the recipient is out a gift. I find Microsoft 's policies to be BAD BUSINESS.
