I have asked for my refund!

I went into this buisness to book a room for my daughters graduation party for 6/12/09, after discussing food, decoration, rooms etc. I was given a total, which was i think pretty good, after that i was not told to put a certain amoumt down, nor was i told of cancellation fees, nor did i sign a written contract, or was i made aware of a verbal contract. After me and my husband decided to put down a total of 500. Oo dollars cash i was given a reciept and told that she will contact me closer to the event date to see if we needed to add more people or anything else. And we left! On march 2 i contacted this place to cancel the party less than a month later, and i was told o there is no refund! Im sitting on the phone like what, first all i never signed a contract, nor was i told that there was no refund, because had i been told i would have never put down a $500.00 deposit on a 13year old teenager who mind changes everyday, so after i told her that i signed no contract and i was not told this, she offered to use the money to cater food for wherever my daughter had decided to have her party, i said no. (sounds to melike they didnt want to lose this money) so she went on to tell me that they held this room and that they thought i wanted it, im sayin now this is less than a month ago, i cant see you losing that much buisness for this particular day, anyway she stated she would have to talk with the owner and see what he says about retuning my money. After i never heard from her i left messages and on 3/6/09 she called me stating that the owner will refund only $300.00 which i felt was wrong, because she failed to have me sign a contract and or go over these terms, i was frustrated and angry that i was going over this with her and said to jus send me my mony in the mail, she stated she would and it will take up to 10 days, today is 3/31/09 and i have not recieved anything, i have called and left messages since 3/24/09 and no one has called me back yet, i think this is very unproffesional of this company, and i want my money back i want my entire $500.00 back now.
