Erie Insurance i cant even believe they got away with this, be VERY VERY careful

I dont even know where to start, I only wish this sight was around when this happened or maybe it was and I didnt know about it. This actually scarred me a little and this was 3 years ago but I never want this to happen to anyone else.

During the summer of 2001 I was 19 and I owned a 94 Mustang GT. I ended up hitting a gaurd rail in the rain and did a little over 6,000 worth of damage to it (300 or so short of totalling it out.) My insurance provider at the time was Erie Insurance. I figured if it had that much damage it would almost be better to just total it out instead of dealing with a car that has had that much damage to it but I was only 19 and didnt know any better. They insisted they could put it back to new condition and take it to Tallmadge Collision. They wouldnt take it to the dealership or anywhere else for that matter. So being 19 once again I just said okay.

After having my car for 2 months they finally gave it back to me. Soon as I walked out to it the very first minute of seeing it I even noticed the tailpipe was still bent and I am not a mechanic and I hadnt been working on my car for two months. The first thing that hit me was attention to detail like what the army taught me. If they over looked that what else could they have over looked. So after 10 minutes they bring my car back out to me and I drive it home. All the way home I hear this really bad actual squeeking / rubbing noise. I pulled up in my driveway and got out and walked around my car and there was actually smoke coming from my back right rotor and brake pad area. I didnt even want to drive it so I called Tallmadge collision and they sent a tow truck out to pick it up. So once again I was stuck without a car wondering why I just didnt get it totalled and be done with this mess.

So after a couple days they call me to come pick up the car and they said they fixed it. So I show up and drive it home again. Still same squeeky noise. I immediately call them and tell them it is still making noises and it didnt do that before the accident and they said to bring it in again. After the head mechanic takes a ride with me and hears the noise he keeps reasurring me its only break dust. Being he is the head mechanic and after having them look at it twice i finally give up and say okay.

A month goes by and finally i get so sick of the noise I take it to another body shop. After only 15minutes they call me out and say your really lucky you brought this in when you did I cant believe you were driving on it. They had my Mustang up on the rack with the back tire spinning where the noise was coming from and it was wobbling. I had a bent axle!!! They didnt even charge me to look at it after I tell them everything that happened. It was just a small BP station, awesome people! So now I am on the phone with the adjuster and Tallmadge collision telling them what this body shop found in 15minutes that they over looked for 2 months and 2 times it was taken back to them. I just paid the money out of my pocket to have it fixed at a meineke. The guy even drove his personal car 45minutes to get my axel for me. I call the adjuster back up and let him know and sent him the receipts so I can get the 500 dollars back I just spent on getting it fixed right. So the adjuster gets the receipts and calls me back and says to meet him at Tallmadge.

I was like I dont even want to go back to that place at all. The noise is gone my car is driving perfect again. I dont want to even look at Tallmadge Collison. He was like if you want your money you will meet me there. So I feel really unconfortable so I take my family with me and my boss and we show up. The first thing they do is come out and start looking at my car. He was like look, right there! See and starting writing on his clipboard stuff and wouldnt tell me whats goin on. We were all dumb founded. The guy who works there was like look at the headlight, there is signs of another wreck! I just had ordered clear corner lenses and when I put them in i didnt push the rubber down all the way. I was like First why are you saying its another wreck and second what does it have to do with anything? So they had me come inside and the adjustor had me go back in a room with their investigator they brought in to talk to him. We were still dumbfounded as to what was going on. He had me sit in the room alone with him and he pulled out a tape recorder. He started asking me questions but it wasnt questions, he was trying to get me to say I had hit something and thats why the axel was messed up!!! After I figured out what was going on I was actually shaking, my face was red and I had no idea what to do so I just got up and left and didnt say anything else. They had put my car on a rack while I was in there alone with the guy. I went to talk to the adjuster and it turned out Tallmadge Collision was telling them they didnt overlook the axle but that I had gotten in another wreck to cover their asses! They pointed out my headlight rubber molding sticking out as a sign and they said they seen flat spots on my tires when they put it up on the rack. My response was
1) if i got in another wreck where is all the damage? Wouldnt the rim and car be messed up if it was hard enough to bend an axle that bad?
2) What does the front right headlight have to do with the rear axle?
3) if you are saying there is flat spots on my tires and you reused my tires in the first place how are they not from spinning out into a gaurd rail and this brings up a whole another thing they overlooked and dont you now owe me tires for where ever they "found" bald spots???

So since I couldnt even afford to fight them in court especially for only a 500 dollar axle which it all came down to I decided to just take it. So I didnt even have christmas money that year for presents because thats what I had to spend it on. It just kept haunting me. So the only thing I can do is post to anyone reading this stay away from Tallmadge Collision and stay away from Erie Insurance. I pray that nevers happens to anyone else and I cant believe people can get away with stuff like this and I couldnt even do anything about it. Just please be very very careful if you are dealing with either of these companies.

I even wrote the president of Erie and told him what happened. Then whats even worse my mom was at a hair salon and was talking to a woman who happened to be the owner of Tallmadge Collision's girlfriend!!! What are the odds??? She was laughing about how she would never get her car worked on there and how they are all new and dont really know what they are doing!!! I couldnt believe it, it just kept haunting me. So thats my horror expierence. Please never let this happen to you. I have put it behind me and I am actually deployed overseas now but its always bothered me.
