They didn't even use Vaseline!

Cars & Transport

I wrecked my truck on icy roads, and my insurance (ERIE) told me I was covered for a rental. I went to get my rental and inspected it very carefully with the salesperson. I pointed out the various chips and body damage and she told me the sticker was good and the oil had just been changed. I assumed that that meant a mechanic actually worked on it. After I drove it for a few days I noticed a puddle of oil under it. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I did not do this damage.

I immediately started checking the oil and even adding more to it. As soon as I could I let Enterprise know that it had an oil leak. They told me that they didn't have another car for me so I should keep adding oil and they would reimburse me. This thing was leaking so bad it would sometimes take 2 quarts of oil to get from work to my house (1 hour drive). I kept in contact with Enterprise still not other car to trade in.

I finally got my truck back and was able to return their car. The manager was there and said that everything was going to be taken care of. A few weeks later I recieved a estimate for about $1,700 for damages on the car. They took that car to a shop and said they I cracked the oil pan, transmission pan, air conditioner, busted the bumper and right headlight and a few other things. I DID NOT DAMAGE to this vehicle.

So their next step was to file a claim with my insurance company (ERIE). I notified Erie of what was going on and told them to ignore Enterprise until I could go over things with them. I was told not to worry, Enterprise cannot file a claim without MY permission. That was lie #1. Next thing I know I am giving recorded interviews on the phone to Erie over it. And soon after that I am telling Enterprise that I want those part to take to my mechanic, and when I find that those damages were not because of me that I would sue Enterprise.

After a few days I talked to Erie again, and they told me that they will not pay the damages without my permission, and there was lie #2. Erie wrote me a check for $1,100, which I took to Enterprise and told them that they would have to give me all the parts they took off the car before I would even consider handing that over. No parts, and guess what? As soon as I get in my truck Erie calls me to tell me that they are doing a stop payment on that check because it was supposed to go to Enterprise.

I guess I'm going to have to make Enterprise take me to court to get their other $500. Erie is even saying that since it was a "collision" that it goes against my record. So I will be paying a higher premium over that as well. I urge anyone who reads this, if you need a vehicle, rent from someone else or go buy a $500 piece of crap, but do not go to Enterprise! If anyone has any info or advice, plase let me know!
