Alamo
Another unwanted upgrade at LAX Los Angeles

Cars & Transport

I collected my rental at Los Angeles having pre-booked and pre-paid in the UK. However when I arrived, I was persuaded to believe that the rental I had booked and paid for, A Full Size SUV / Chevrolet Tahoe or similar would not be big enough to accommodate my group of 4 adults and 1 junior. I was therefore asked to change to a Premium Crossover Class / Chevrolet Traverse at an extra cost of $35 per day.

I feel I was given poor advice and over charged for this upgrade when you consider that the replacement vehicle costs $10,000 less than the Tahoe and is abundant in numbers in the LA area.

Having read the articles on consumer complaintss, could there be a company policy being used to generate income, by supposed and needless upgrades, from weary travellers who had pre-paid through agents in their host country.

Future renters beware and do not sign that rental agreement until you are completly sure you are geting what you need and not what they want.
