Fail to back product that they sell Detroit Michigan

Cars & Transport

I currently own a 2002 Ford F-350 Pick up. I have my truck service well within the guidelines in the manual. The truck currently has 56,000 miles on it.

The Transmission has started to have aluminum chips in the oil. I contacted the dealer I bought from & Ford cutomer service. Niether will do anything to remedy the problem.

Their answer is to drive it till it breaks. That could be when it's out of warranty.

I contacted a Ford knowledgable transmission shop. They indicated that the Diesel Ford trucks are susceptible to early transmission failure.

Apparently the overdrive hub inside of the transmission as well as the Front hub are made of aluminum. The High compression of the diesel "rattles" these parts to the point they fail.

Another shop verified this senerio. They recommend, at time of rebuild, that the parts be repalced with steel.

I beleive that the transmission is now living on borrowed time.

Fords have be know to have transmission problems. But, when I spend $40,000 on a truck, I expect to get more than 56000 miles out of it before something major like the transmission breaks.
