I purchased (Sept) a new 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee LAredo from another dealership and immedialety started having problems that were non transmission related. The vehicle's transmission started slipping soon thereafter, but I atttibuted it to improper gas being used. The slipping eventually stopped (so I thought) and for the next 1.5 years I had no problems. But, in August (two years after I purchased it) and 50,000 miles later the transmission slippage started again. I took it in to Stone Mountain Chrysler Jeep on 9-13-02 and I was told that the transmission was experiencing solenoid and transduce problems and needed replacing. I had the parts replaced at a cost of $496.62.

Now fast forward to early September and the transmission started slipping again. On 9-11-04 almost four years from the date of original purchase and two years from the date of the first diagnosis that the vehicle started experiencing transmission problems I took the vechicle in to Stone Mountain Chrysler Jeep again complaining about the transmission slipping. I also told them that two years prior that their dealership had replaced the transmission solenoid and transduce and that their technicinas should have identified the vechicle as having more severe transmission problems at that time. However they did not want to listen to me and would not admit they did anything wrong. I also asked them about the likelihood of a 4 year old Jeep needing the transmission replaced and I was told that it was extremely rare for that to happen. Well I have since discoveredt that the 200 Jeep Grand Chereokee Laredo and even newer models have experienced this same problem. I think that all Jeep Cherokee Lareedo owners should be aware of this potential problem and we should all contact Damiler-Chrysler to express our dissatisfaction with this model vehicle. If we don't do anything then the company will not do anything.
