Of Silver Spring Ripoff Take Your Keys and Bait You Back to Dealership to Get Them, Won't Help in an Emergency

While I was waiting for a car repair, a salesman convinced me to test drive another car. He took my spare key with attached electronic lock gizmo so an "appraiser" could value my would-be trade-in.
I did not buy a new car and when I got home, I found that the salesman had not given my spare key back. I called and asked him to leave it at the front desk marked with my name. For the nest several weeks, the salesman called me every day asking if I had changed my mind about buying a new car. I put off going to get my key, dreading the renewed onslaught sales pitch.
Human nature being what it is, I let a few months slip by without getting around to retrieving my key. Then, today I locked myself out of my car with my dog inside! I remembered the spare key and asked my boyfriend to call/go to the dealer to get the spare. Not getting anywhere on the phone, he went there and was told they had thrown the key away (WITHOUT BOTHERING TO CALL ME, A CUSTOMER WHOSE NUMBER AND NAME THEY HAD ON FILE). The general manager told my boyfriend that he "would not help him" even after it was explained that I had locked my dog in the car.
Apparently, the dealership (A SATURN, SELF-DESCRIBED CUSTOMER-FRIENDLY COMPANY) is able to cut new keys for any Saturn using just a VIN (Vehicle ID Number). The man who identified himself as the GM, who I believe is Steve Saunders, said he would only help if there was a baby in the car, but not for a dog!!! What a scumbag!
