Thomas Nissan/Subaru ripoff, I believe overcharged for labor and not sure of actuality of a problem charged fo

I had my 1998 Subaru Outback in for valve adjustment and a tune-up and also check of my suspension system.

Dealership called when I wasn't home and told my husband there was a leak at the "buffer plate" between the tranny and engineand that the engine needed to be removed to fix.

Engine was pulled to repair leak. While engine pulled they replaced timming belt and adjusted the valves.

When we got the bill it was a little over 3750.00 couldn't talk to a sevice man because they had left when they knew what time I was coming. They charged over 700 to pull the engine and then another 540 to change timing belt.

I do have a work manual on my Subaru and looked up to see what is all entalied to change timming belt. If the engine was out there would be less to do.

I believe that i should not have been charged the amount they did for the timing belt.By my figuring based on 68.00/hr they say it took 7.9hrs to change the timing belt. The manual shows pulling off front part of engine cover, you pop the new belt on and put cover and pullies back on if engine is already out of car should take very little to pull things off and replace with no obstructions.

Took car home and car wouldn't excellerate and shift like it should, would almost red-line before it would shift.

I took car back they checked was told nothing was wrong, took back again had them ride with me it acted up but still was told nothing wrong.

Husband took car back they finally found wires they had undone wasn't completely reattached they hooked back up runs better but not like when i first bought it. Will not take my car back to dealer don't trust their work and don't like being treated like just because I'm a female that I know nothing about cars. I have changed engines, transmissions and done my own body work on my vehicles and brake jobs all the way down to simple tune-ups.

Had to walk out before I got too mad and try to leave it up to my hubby but they hoodwinked him too (too softhearted).
