Charged deductible of $500 for a scratch minutes after telling me they would not charge my card

I rented from Enterprise for about 10 weeks at $189 per week. When I came to return the car on March 23, I was told there was a note in their system that the back bumper had a scratch/small crack in it. I had no idea what they were talking about. I was told that on rare occasions, someone calls the police as a Good Samaritan and reports hitting a car or reports a car being hit.

I asked for the detaiils of what exactly took place, and the representative told me that they had no more information, but the Enterprise loss prevention unit would call me.

He told me that he woud need to charge $500 deductible at that moment. I explained to him that I did not have the money and told him not to charge the card. He told me that he would not charge it if I did not give him permission. I explained that I would like to have this checked out thoroughly before any charges are incurred. I explained that the person who called in could have agreed to pay for the damage, but I have no details to go on.

After walking out, he charged my card for the $500 deductible.
