West L.A. Engine Rebuilding Inc
Failure to honor warranty and unprofessional business practices

Please note that my complaint has already been adjudicated by the small claims court in Los Angeles.
I am not filing the complaint to gain any monetary advantage but to let the consumers beware that West L.A. Engine Rebuilding Inc. Should be avoided at all cost.

I purchased an engine from the aforementioned company on or about 07/27, in the amount of $2016.69. I had the engine installed by a licensed mechanic. Subsequently, I shipped the core/used engine to West L.A. Engine Rebuilding Inc., and I paid for the shipping and handling.

Everything was fine until March approximately six months after installation. The engine lost power and I had my vehicle towed to a licensed mechanic. To my surprise, I was told that my camshaft had been broken in half.

I immediately contacted the West L.A. Engine Rebuilding Inc., and after receiving the run around for several days, I spoke with the alleged owner, Mr. Gulu. Once Mr. Gulu was aware that I had a problem with one of his rebuilt engines, his demeanor changed, and he went so far as telling me that I had to be pulling a heavy trailer to cause the
camshaft to break. I told him that I didnt own a trailer or even a trailer hitch.
He began to yell and continued to insist that I did. He told me that he would not honor his warranty and hung up on me. I made several calls to him in an effort to mitigate my losses. I agreed to pay shipping and handling to
return the engine to him and have his company repair the camshaft for and additional $500.00 My total payments were now $2,516.69.

After Mr. Gulu received payment and the engine he had the engine repaired and returned to me. I immediately had the engine re-installed, by a licensed mechanic. I drove my newly installed engine 7 miles when I discovered that there was no oil pressure.

I contacted Mr. Gulu and he said, without inspecting the engine, that the engine was incorrectly installed and
that he nor his company could be responsible or warranty the engine.

I spend in excess of $3,800.00 for the engine, installing and re-installing and shipping and handling.

I eventually broke down and purchased an engine directly from the dealer. I HAVE HAD NO ENGINE PROBLEMS SINCE THEN.

I would recommend that if you are in the market for an
engine do not by one online. Get one
from the dealer or a dismantling/wrecking yard with low mileage.
