Last week I took my car to get an oil change at EZ Lube. The oil was dark but the level was fine, just between the dipstick lines. I have had the car for a few years now, and have never ever had any problems with it. It gets its regular maintenance, and it was running absolutely perfect when I had taken it in. The oil was changed, and off I went on my merry way. I immediately noticed that the engine was shaking, and running sluggish. It seemed low on power. Within MINUTES of driving on the freeway I started to hear a LOUD banging metallic sound. I somehow manged to pull over and had the car towed to a Ford dealership. They told me that they had seen this kind of thing before. The Mechanics, two of them explained to me that these cheap aftermarket oil filters are defective sometimes. The low restrictive flow starves the engine, and causes it to blow up, destroy itself internally. It is going to be a little over 5K to replace the engine. EZ lube Managers have said they are denying my claim and that I am on my own. How you like that? It gets even better! I discovered that they are falsely documenting info on their paperwork to try and cover themselves in case of a screw up. Kind of like when you valet your car and they indicate it has door dings and scratches all around when it does not. LIARS! These crooks wrote down "no oil, customer well aware". When in fact I had checked the oil ONE hour before and I verified it was a little higher than the halfway mark. Absolutely unbelievable!!!
You better believe I will be seeking legal action, and most off all going to the press. The attorney I have been talking to is considering a class action suit. Within the next couple of weeks we will be doing a press conference covered by all the local channels. I feel I have to warn others from falling victim to this horrible chain of non stop rip offs. Do a search! See for yourself how they have a reputation for taking advantage of innocent people just to take their money. The city of Los Angeles even had them set up a special fund to reimburse the multitudes of rip off victims that have been taken advantage of.
