Service Department put sub-par battery in my car instead of New

Cars & Transport

When I purchased the used vehicle, I stated I wanted a new battery put into the vehicle. When I got it back, it appeared to have an oil stain on the sticker.

After 3 weeks, I noticed the posts corroding already and I contacted the Service Manager Pam Dugan regarding the corrosion. She said to bring it in but if the battery tested well, they wouldn't replace it.

I took it to Advance Auto first and had them look at it. We peeled the sticker back and it turns out it wasn't an oil stain on the sticker it was black permanent marker bleeding through. The Advance Auto guy and I rubbed the marker off to reveal the battery sticker with a date of Nov on it.

Pam Dugan shouted at me and insisted it was a new battery. New batteries do not corrode within 3 weeks. This battery if it was new had been sitting on a shelf for at least a year. Upon researching the number on the sticker underneath the Kia sticker, I found this battery registered to a Plymouth vehicle Not a Dodge, Not a Kia, Not a Subaru, Not a Mitsubishi, which is what their sales force deals with.
