Cars & Transport

My key was stuck in the ignition and my car wouldn't start. I called my insurance company (we have free tow service through our Farmer's Insurance) and they contacted the BEST tow company in town. Affordable Towing took my car to Bill Grant Ford in Bolivar, MO. When we arrived, the tow guy was so helpful and protective, he followed me inside and took me straight to the automotive department and waited to make sure I was being treated properly.
I met Mark, from the automotive service department at Bill Grant Ford. I explained that I have a warranty on my 2006 car. He told me there's no way I have a warranty on a 2006 car. I insured him, I indeed, have a warranty on my car. He called and checked and found out I do, in fact, have an extended warranty on my 2006 car.
He followed us out to my car and told the sweet tow man to lower my car.
Then, Mark started my car! I was so happy that my car started!
Unfortunately, Mark ruined my happy mood. Mark jumped into my car and, without any warning, started driving MY car into Bill Grant Ford's garage. I yelled for him to stop. He told me "I'm going to drive this car into the garage". I asked him if he would get out of my car so I can check it out. I thought maybe the key would come out of the ignition and maybe it was possibly a safety mechanism that I was unaware of that was causing the issues. Mark told me he WAS going to drive this car into the garage, because he didn't want to have to get 5 guys to push it into the garage if it didn't start again. Sounds logical, so I let him... Not that he was going to let me stop him.
After he drove my car into the garage, I ran over to my car and it started perfectly two times. However, the key still wouldn't come out of the ignition.
Once I got to my families house, I called Bill Grant Ford and asked them to call me with any estimates. They kindly obliged. They called me the same day and told me my battery needed to be replaced ($119) along with the shifter ($100 deductible). They said my warranty wouldn't cover my battery. I called my local Ford service dept and told them the diagnosis that was given to me and the mechanic said it was odd that my battery went dead. He said the key being in the ignition probably caused the battery to die and I would just need a jump and probably won't need a new battery.
I called Bill Grant Ford and told them my car started just fine when I dropped it off and questioned why I needed a new battery. I was told that maybe the battery is fine, but they didn't want me to get down the road and have the battery die on me. I asked if they could please test the battery and they said it would cost me $45 to test the battery and if the battery did need to be replaced, I would have to pay the extra $45 as well to test the battery.
After speaking to my husband, I called Bill Grant Ford and spoke to Neil who promised me a free battery testing.
Upon the completion of the battery test, per Bill Grant Ford, I needed a new battery (I knew that was coming, but I wasn't going down without a fight). I told them to replace the battery and asked the price of the Starter. They questioned me about why I wanted the price of the starter when my warranty would cover all, but the $100 deductible. I asked them why would they question me? I'm the one footing the bill here. I want to know where every dime of MINE is going.
Like I told them, they didn't seem trustworthy and I'm only trying to protect myself and my wallet. I ended up having to replace my car battery that worked great when I dropped off my car. My car started up three times perfectly when I left it at Bill Grant Ford. I was treated very disrespectfully when I first dropped my car off. The employees of Bill Grant Ford, mainly Mark, need to work on their customer service. I understand he's the MAN in charge, but he's setting a poor example for his subordinates.in my opinion, I felt like because I was a female, they thought I didn't know anything about cars and I don't, but I know when someone is full of BS.
