Vehicle service and repair ripoffs

On february 28, i took my 2000 toyota camry into this service center for regular maintainence. I requested a minor tune-up, oil change, timing belt change, and front brakes replacement.

Upon dropping the veh off, i advised the service tech that my brake light sensor came on approximately 2-3 weeks prior and my brakes were not scrubbing nor did they make any noises. I also told him that i had my rotors resurfaced in august last year and did not want them resurfaced again. I also advised him that i would be using a coupon for $100.00 off (not to exceed 20% of total).

The service tech called me later that day to advise that the services had been started and the front brakes would be changed. (never once did he mention the rotors).

T.M.A.L.S.S.-i advised the service tech (might i mention he is also the assistant service manager, "brian") that i would be in saturday to pick up my vehicle. He failed to mention that saturday was his off day-

I got to the service desk to get my total and realized this genius tacked on $105.00 for "rotor resurfacing" labor.-go figure! - he had deducted the $100.00 coupon only to balance it out with a charge for service i not only told him i did not need, but one that i could not prove was even done...

Needless to say, i requested to speak to his boss, the service manager and had it out with him&he told me "oh, it is recommended to have your rotors resurface every time you get a brake job. I told him that he can "shove his recommendations up his ying-yang and show it to me in my vehicle service manual"... He was speechless... When i left instead of paying the $489.00 first billed, i walked away paying only $323.57!

Ladies, be careful and aware of getting your vehicles serviced. Stay ahead and do your homework. It's their business to sniff out suckers-but they did not have one here!
