Company did poor service and lied about brake problem to make more money, They really don't care

I am disgusted by the service I received from Just Brakes in Round Rock, TX in the winter of 2011. My '08 Expedition started having some brake squeak most likely meaning the pads needed replacement.

Like everyone I've heard their radio ad for $99 brake jobs and figured I'd try them. I called and spoke to a nice guy, setup and appointment, dropped of the vehicle to another nice guy and sat in a decent facility and waited for the inspection results.

The very personable guy told me the pads needed replacement and recommended the hardware be done and the brake fluid be flushed. Plus the rotors would be turned (machined) for free. I only agreed to the pads and the hardware and of course the rotors being turned. I left and picked up the truck a few hours later.

Immediately the brakes were squeaking. I call the shop when I got home and the same guy said there may be a short break-in period. A week later the front brakes were making a horrible noise and I took the truck back. After the inspection the same nice guy told me how the rotors had a manufacturing defect and went into a detailed 10 minute speech on how Ford is using bad parts. He told me the "rotors have crystallized" and even wrote that exact statement on the estimate papers. He was going to "give me a good deal" on new rotors for $350.

STOP! This immediately sounded fishy, but how could this really nice guy that earned my trust be telling a lie... Well, he was, because he's a filthy liar that cheats people.

I had never heard of crystallized rotors (pads can crystallize but not rotors). When I asked the man this questions he spoke in a mater-of-fact way that "Yes" rotors can crystallize. So I left saying I don't have the money and called a friend at a high-end automotive shop.

I took the truck to my friend who looked at the brakes and said it was a simple problem. The rotors had been machined (turned) incorrectly. Just Brakes turns the rotors while still on the vehicle and the person setting the machine did it wrong causing it to wobble while it cut and leaving an uneven surface. My friend turned the rotors again in a matter of minutes, reassembled and the truck drives great. The front brakes are now fixed.

My friend couldn't believe that instead of spending 20 minutes to resolve my problem, Just Brakes blatantly lied and tried to charge me $350 for parts I never needed. I can image the hundreds of customers that don't know anything about auto repair and don't have a trusted friend they can get a 2nd opinion from, who get ripped-off by Just Brakes. What a sham. The worst part being they advertise how much they care and their guys seem so trustworthy and in the end they're the biggest bunch of liars and cheats out there. I feel bad for the woman (with little child) sitting in that waiting room with me having a similar repair done because her rotors were also bad (on another newer vehicle).

To add insult to injury, my rear brakes just started making noise. I didn't want to bother my friend again so I called a different Just Brakes to see if they could fix it. I was hoping that someone in that company would be respectable. I spoke with a nice guy in Cedar Park, TX who was very enthusiastic about me setting up an appointment, but upon hearing it would be warranty work said, "Oh my god, if we just did the brakes then you have a MAJOR problem there and we need to look at it immediately." I hung up the phone.

I called my friend and schedule an appointment with his shop and will pay whatever they ask to fix my brakes. I will never use Just Brakes again in my life and will tell everyone I know never to use them.

DO NOT USE Just Brakes for anything! The advertising seems attractive but you will literally get screwed. Please, NEVER use Just Brakes.
