Quoted us a monthly fee for auto insurance, then raised it

When my son bought his first car I offered to put him and the car on my insurance policy through Allstate so his monthly payments wouldn't be so steep. Got an initial quote through my agent and my son was added.

The first bill came and the quote jumped $75.00. When I called my agent she said the higher amount was to fit in one month plus a week since we had just missed the payment date. She told us to pay the larger amount, and after that the remaining amounts would be the lower amount quoted us initially.

My son paid the larger amount. When the next bill came it too was the larger amount - $75 more. I called once again and the agent said there must have been a mistake make by their office and my son will just have to pay the larger amount. I said no.

I called the 800 number and spoke for 30 minutes with a customer service person who wouldn't let me speak to a manager. He said we could change my son's policy so drop options so the monthly amount would be lower. I said Allstate needed to uphold the initial TWO QUOTES of the lower amount and he said he couldn't do it. "A mistake was made and our underwriting department should have caught it, but they didn't. You'll have to pay."

I told him Allstate needed to eat the difference between the amounts since it was THEIR mistake. He wouldn't do it, but finally said he would refer me to (after my demanding) to a higher up customer service person. I would be called in TWO business days.

I told him I would take my 30 year business with Allstate someplace else. I called another insurance company for a quote and that company said I was the THIRD person that day who had the SAME problem with Allstate. She said the other people were treated the same same way... Told a lower amount for insurance, but when the bill came the amount was higher and Allstate refused to lower the amount. I've had it with Allstate and their unscrupulous ways. I recommend anyone who has this company as their insurance company to run for the door and go anywhere else.
