Keith Lewis
Another questionable mechanic, go figure

Cars & Transport

On a referal from a friend I hired Keith Lewis to repair my 1998 GMC Z71, it was not running. It would turn over fine but not fire. I paid to have it towed to his shop. After 3 days he called me and told me I needed a new timing chain gears and cover because the timing had skipped. It would cost about $700.00.
TWO WEEKS LATER he had it fixed. I had him replace the water pump while he was working on it so the bill was$745. I picked it up and drove it home. It seemed to work fine.
The next day I went to start it and it again would not start. I called him and told him. A couple of days later he showed up at my house, hooked up a computer but still could not determine what the problem was. He left. He would not look at it anymore or fix it.
One and a half weeks later! - I took the distributor cap off and found that the electrodes were so burnt and corroded that you could not even see any metal on them. The rotor button electrode was the same way and the end was burnt right off it. I went and bought the parts, installed them, and the truck fired right up!

What kind of mechanic changes a timing chain, gears and cover and doesnt re-time the engine?!

What kind of mechanic doesnt check the distributor cap and rotor when doing this type of repair?!

What kind of mechanic doesnt tighten the distributor back down when he is done with this type of repair?!

It makes me wonder if it wasnt the distributor cap and rotor the whole time and NOT the timing chain and gears that was the problem, but I cant prove it.

You have burnt this bridge pal and I will NOT be recommending your services to anyone.
