Sleazy Used Car Sales Comes Back!

I found a car on Friday. They knew I had an insurance check coming. They told me they would not hold the car without 500.00 deposit. They did not tell me I could write a check to hold the car. I waited for my insurance check. They tried selling the car on Saturday but the lady did not have the down payment. On Wednesday A.M. My husband took the check to them to hold the car that on Tuesday I told them I received. After 4:00 P.M. On Tuesday I was told the car did not sell and it was mine for the agreed upon $8,000.00 drive-out price. I went to the dealer the very next day at 6:00 P.M. To be told again that the car was sold, but the lady did not come up with the whole down payment, that there was no contract signed and the manager told me that if I paid them 500.00 more (plus tax) that I could take the car. This was not the agreement, and I told him. So he said he would talk to the owner, Mr. Durrett. He came back and told me that Mr. Durrett said I could have the car if I gave them $8,000.00 plus tax, over another nearly 700.00. I said "Give me my check" and walked out. The manager was still talking to me, I just replied that I didn't want to hear it and left the building. I saw the salesman hide his face in his hands, he was visibly upset with the way the dealership was treating me, he was frustrated and embarrassed. I felt angry at the way they treated me with the bait and switch, and how they treated their own salesman, BUT the biggest thing was the message that is on the front door of their offices. It says "we do business with a handshake." Their "on hold" message says the same thing. If they do business with a handshake it is only so they can get close enough to twist the knife in the buyer's back deeper and tighter.

Sleazy management, salesman was so embarrassed and frustrated for me that he nearly literally cried. I feel so angry that they made the salesman feel that way, that they treated me so poorly when they would have had guaranteed $8,000 in their bank account, and did the bait and switch.
