Jim McKay Chevrolet
Service issue

Cars & Transport

We have bought two cars from Jim McKay and had wonderful customer service until our last event. My two year old car failed to start Friday in the driveway. We had the car towed to Jim McKay. 1. They didn't look at it on Saturday, as they claimed that walk in traffic was priority over our car.

2. Monday, they did call and tell us it wasn't the starter or solenoid, but the battery. My husband had checked the battery before we had the car towed. The lights were bright and the battery seemed strong. We were not sure the battery was really the issue. The battery had a 3 year warranty, but they refused to honor it.

3. They tried to say that the rear brakes needed to have the pads replaced and the rotors needed to be returned. On a front wheel driven car, the rear brakes do not generally go out first, especially on a 2-year old car with 30K miles. And the state inspection a month ago did not indicate any issue with this. And tires tend to wear out before rotors or brake pads.

4. We were told the hydraulic brake line needed to be bled - On a 3 year old car.

We felt like trying to sell us the rotor and brake fluid change was rather deceptive. We really didn't like the attitude of the service person, Mike. He even intimidated my mechanic husband saying he hoped we didn't drive into t a tree or something.

We had always really liked Jim McKay until this experience. So sorry to see things to downhill there.
