Warranty problem

We had a back side glass break in a new F-250 Ford truck from slamming the front door. Dealership said was not covered by Ford. Would cost 458.00 to repair. We took it ourself to be repaired to the same contract windshield company they used. He charged only 150.00 for the same glass the dealership wanted 458.00. After confronting the dealership they agreed to pay for the repairs. The truck only has 3500 miles. Why should Ford not repair this? Dealership offered to pay only after confronted.in the past 4 years our families have purchased upwards of 200,000.00 dollars in new cars and trucks. No more will we purchase a unit from this vendor and we will also take our warranty work elsewhere.
