On the 15th of august, i went to midas to have my brakes done. My brake had already been check out by firestone because i had a thumping noise. It was not my brakes, as they showed me that i had 47% in the front and 74% in the back. It was my front end making the noise.

I had the front in done, an alignment, and two new tires done. The next week i had a full tune up and road tested. Two days later i had the transmission check and road tested. I went to midas and told them to do my brakes for the up coming winter and told them all that i had done. A half block after the job was done, i returned and said, the car is jerking forward and i had much better grip on my brakes when i came in.

They checked again and said it was just a minor mistake. I went to work monday morning and came home my usual root down hill to my house. After the 4th stop sign, the car went threw a stop sign. I called them and said i will be back in the morning. I went back and they checked it out again and did some more work and i went on to work.

I came home and the same thing happened again. I called and told them. He said come in at 8:30 and i will have my machanic drive that hill with you. He blead the brakes before we left to test it in my area. The car was holding a little better but still smelling like a fire craker as i told him a out this before. He said that the new pads that they are using now takes a 1000 miles to brake in and that they will smell until they brake in. He subjested that i take the alternet root, highway one which is almost a mile out of my way to get home. That did not make sense so i came home today my usual route and by the time i got to the bottom of the hill, it was really smelling bad and not holding like it should. I paid them $209.00 to do my brakes. He had asked for $298.00 for some irroneous stuff that i needed. He said he could work something out for me. So he said he could do the job for $209.00. I have a life time guarantee with this company and have always paid $59.00 for labor and the brake pads are free.

I have a 1977 coupe deville that i did not start putting any miles on it because i was a stay at home mom and only went to the store and back in this car. After the kids got grown and gone is when i started working in 1995 in san mateo. Most machanics think that it's a rollover when they see the milage but it's not. That's why the car runs so good. It's just now being really broken in. But i am 65 years of age and self supporting and have used all my resources this month to keep my car in top position before the winter comes and now i have no brakes. What can i do.

They took my last $209.00 that i could have asked firestone to do the job. But sense i had a life time warrantee, i decided to go back to midas. How could i have had good brakes when i went in with no smell and come out with no brakes and a terrible smell when i come home. I can not come home anymore on my usual route now because the narrow two lane street will surely cause a lot of damage if these brakes fail on me. Or i could kill myself and someone else. I need my money back so i can go to firestone and let them do the job correctly.

I was going to notify the cooperate office until i read on this site of what i would have to go threw before i could get some satisfaction. I don't have that much time or the resouces to get my brakes done. What am i to do now? If i don't work, i don't eat, drive, or live. I am pretty desperate at this time. The only thing that's saving me is this car will not excellerate going down highway one. It will hold at 45 miles an hour and i don't have to brake at all. But god forbid if i do. It is not a good feeling to come home knowing that your life and someone elses is in danger. Please please please help
