What's the deal with fed ex

I reach home to find a door tag from fed ex, not hanging on my door knob or sticking on the door itself, on the ground, so i read it it didnt say anything about sorry i missed u and well be back the following day, a friend of mine was at my home and didnt hear no one knock, so i tracked the package and it said my package was deliverd and left at the door. No package at my door, so i called the 1800 number on the door tag, spoke to a representative and he searched my order and he seen it had been delivered, he told me it would be an investigation and took my adress and phone, and said someone would call me and i could call back between 3pm and 5pm, i felt a little better.
