So I moved to Boston, had an older honda civic with out-of-state plates which was stolen, stripped and "dumped in the projects" at 4am. Tow Happy "recovered" my car, there impound lot is 9 miles from my house (car was found less than a mile away). When I went to recover the license plates, they made me pay $190, even though I had theft insurance. My detective has made efforts to get that $190 back, but he has had no such luck (My insurance co. HAS paid Tow Happy the $190).
It all seems like an unfortunate circumstance, but now it gets sketchy. Boston PD had no record of my vehicle, even tho the original report stated my car was "dumped" on a "city-owned" street which requires the police to be notified, file a report of the condition the car was in after it was dumped then the Boston PD call one of THEIR towing companies to tow it. Ironically Tow Happy is "black listed" according to the cop who did my police report, they do not have a good reputation. It was later found that Tow Happy recovered my car on a privately owned street in that same area... Tow Happy was outside my house at 3am. The truck parked across from my apartments, idled for 10-15 minutes and drove off. They came back and waited again. My car was parked where I parked it. I wake up and it is gone. Tow Happy doesn't answer their phone, which they have caller ID, because they angrily called me repeatedly when they found out I had a detective. My car was found totally stripped, seats, door panels, tires, EVERYTHING, BY TOW HAPPY! The cops said they would put money on it, but they can not find anything to convict them. When my insurance agent accidentily told Tow Happy there was an investigation, the ass holes called me 7 times, and left two very angry voicemails regarding the investigation, obviously got rid of anything that would incriminate them. Tow Happy then called me offering to take a piece of my engine out to sell, but "DON'T MENTION IT TO [YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY]"
TOW HAPPY STOLE and STRIPPED MY CAR!!! Watch out if you have an older honda!!!
