I started working for Flatbed Express after I had a bad experiance with another company. Flatbed enticed me to work for then by promising me weekends at home and better pay. After working for them a few weeks, i began to notice that they did not live up to their promises.
First - When they say "weekends at home", they mean that you will get home late Friday night or Saturday morning and head out Sunday afternoon.
Second - You pay your own tolls. They say that they reimburse your tolls, but only if they match exactly to your logs.in the safty office, they have a manilla envelope full of tolls that they did not pay back.
Third - Running overweight often. They have a run from Mass to NY that made me overweight EVERYTIME I ran it. All they told me was that I should be able to get home if I wait untill the scales were closed.
Fourth - Over Hours. The entire time that I was employed there, I was able to log leagle about 8 times. Dispatchers did not even have a basic understanding of DOT regulations. I drove over 16 hours several times a month.
There are many other reasons that I will tell you but I wont go into in depth. No evening dispatchers, Provide your own cell phone, no directions, no quallcomm communication, payroll is terrible, low miles, Bad reefer units. There are more reasons but this is long enoght as it is.
Good Points - Fast trucks, Good Mechanics.
