Culligan Auto Place
Trail of Sludged engine leads to of, NY

Cars & Transport

Part three of the saga of the Camry Sludged engine. Our last installment had Toyota Motor Corp. And its' evil twin Toyota Financial Svcs blaming each other over the cause of a 97 Camry's sludged engine. Well the trail continues.

Through sleuthing methods we cannot describe we found out that this particular Camry was leased to a Mr. Edward Wozinak through Culligan Auto Place. When we wrote Mr. Wozinak asking for assistance in documenting a maintenance history, he apparently panicked and contacted Culligan.

We were then contacted by the dealership who instructed us to not contact Mr. Wozinak again. The reason stated was that the dealership had a "family" relationship with him. Culligan stated that Mr. Wozinak had returned the vehicle in good shape. However they admitted that shortly after leasing the car he had relocated to Connecticut and only returned at the end of his lease.

When asked to send some documentation or a letter stating that the vehicle had been returned and properly maintained there was a backtracking and silence. At this point in time we have not received any such letter or info on the car nor have they returned our phone calls.

So the question is why would Culligan ship a high end Toyota vehicle to auction when according to Toyota Financial it could have been sold at a higher mark up in the Certified Used program?

Was Toyota Financial involved with Culligan in the decision to dump a dangerously sludged engine on the auction market?

Lastly did Culligan or Toyota Financial disclose to the auction site that this car had a serious engine problem?

Alas, all these questions could be answered if only someone would cough up some maintanence records.
