America's Service Station
Unneeded Repairs - they look for expensive items to replace

Cars & Transport

I had a check engine light on my car. I went to Autozone and had the codes pulled. The codes P0125, P1135, P1150 and P1155. My car was backfiring and hesitating. This business had my car for a week. They said the "Fuel Pump" had no pressure. If there was no pressure I would not have been able to drive the car. Also, the car would not have been backfiring. They said my Catalytic Converter was clogged. On my way home after being charged 2600 for repairs, the check engine light came on again. My car would hesitate and accelerate. I returned car to the business, they stated that the check engine light must be a glitch from history. Nothing to do with their repairs. I did more research on the company. I took my car to the Lexus dealership. Three codes - P0125, P1150, and P1155. The Lexus dealer said a reputable service station would have replaced the correct part. The codes indicated to replace the Air/Fuel Sensor. The sensor controls fuel/air mixture. A Lexus Service rep who has worked there for 8 years, said she'd NEVER had to replace a fuel pump on the RX300. The service manager stated he'd maybe seen 1 or 2 replaced in Lexus' in his 15 years with Lexus. As for the catalytic converter, they said it shouldn't have been touched without first replacing the AF Sensor. They also quoted me a price for the catalytic converter then billed for 30% more than quoted. I don't trust anyone at this service facility. My mistake was first in taking it to America's Service Station, the second in not requesting the parts they replaced. They charged 2600 and didn't fix a it. Stay away from this service facility. Research for a car repair shop before being stuck like I was.
