Cars & Transport

In may of I went to younger toyota to find a used vehicle because my currant vehicle at the time needed to go to the junk yard... I had a 1998 Ford escort, with every warning light on, and I knew I had to get rid of it; I was scared it was going to break down on me. My saleman's name was Todd. I talked to him about my situation, how this would be my first time buying a car, and that i was 18 and didnt have any credit, and needed professional advice. First thing they had me do was fill out a credit app, then he gave me a choice of three cars; a 2003 kia optima, a 2002 Pt cruiser, or a 2001 Nissan Altima. I really didnt want any of those cars, but knowing that I needed something to replace my currant car I had to look. I test drove the Nissan and it was nice, but now i think its because of how bad my other car was. I was really sceptical and I wanted to look around other places, but Todd told me that If i didnt get it now, there would be nothing they could do for me later.

So we went to fill out paperwork on the car. The best they said they could do would be 370 a month at 24% with a thousand down. But he convinced me that i would only be "dating" this car, and that after a year I could trade it off because I would have credit, and since it was a Nissan it would hold its value. Thinking that this was true, I took the deal. When I bought this car for $10,900 with 70k miles, that they completed a 100 check and was up-to-date on maintence. The retail value on it was only 6,500K! I Figured that out too late. After having the car a month, it started stalling out and would idle up and down. I had no choice but to wait so I could save money to get the car checked out at a nissan dealer.

That phone call brought tears to my eyes. They told me it it was leaking coolant, the axle boots were busted and leaking grease. It needed a major tune-up (still had the original spark plugs in it). The intake gasket was leaking oil into the cylinders causing it to missfire. They told me I should look into getting another car soon. I JUST GOT THIS ONE! They fixed the major problems, and even gave me a discount after I told them my buying expirence from younger. The bill was still over 500.00.: (

Since it was almost a year later, i found a car i really wanted, and decided i was tired of dating this car. They appraised my car at 3,400 with 77k miles, and my 10 day payoff is 10,200. The salespeople felt so bad for me, they had never seen a dealer ripoff someone as bad as they did me, they said that they lied to me, that they had to know i would never get rid of this car in a reccesion, that they set me up. I'm stuck with this car. If i cant get rid of it, I'll pay over 20k for a 9 year old car. Please dont trust them!!!
