Cars & Transport

I guess other than the car, one of my biggest disappointments in this transaction was nobody told me, I trusted these guys to send me a car I was extremely excited about, no one told me that as soon as I got the car I was going to have to buy new tires, I can get in writing not only from my Porsche guy but also from the tire company how bad a shape they were in, boom 1100.00.

I then took it out to my Porsche guy after new tires were on because it had a bad noise coming from the right front, and again 350.00 for a wheel bearing. It needed the 30k service on it, My Porsche guy told me the car had the original Cabin and Air filters in the car, he showed me some pretty dirty stuff, it turned out an oil and filter change was done 4k miles ago, so it was due again, another 462.00 because the alignment was extremely off, I noticed as I drove it straight, the steering wheel was pointed left.

Then the right speaker didn't work, 48.00 to find out it was the amp, luckily I repaired this myself.

So far I'm right at 2000.00 out of pocket on things that should have either been fixed before the car left Houston, or someone should have told me so I could decide if I wanted to get another car or not.

It's not rocket science to know a speaker isn't working, to look at tires, or hear a wheel bearing, I'm in IT, not a mechanic and I found those things after the car got here.

When the driver got here, he unloaded the car about a block from my house, I live on a cul de sac and he wouldn't be able to get out easily had he pulled up, this certainly wasn't a problem, he was very helpful, we both looked everywhere for the 2nd key, I was promised a second key, yes, it does have a key in the owner's manual that does nothing except unlock the door, it will not start the car or anything.

Unfortunately I have to go to the Porsche Dealer to get this done along with my driver's license and proof of ownership, which I don't even have, there are 2 Porsche Dealers here, one told me they would have to order the key from Porsche using the VIN no. To have Porsche cut the key, the other one told me they could do it here, either way it was almost 350.00 to get a working 2nd key.

I then get in the car after it is unloaded to drive home, I start the car, reached to my left to adjust the seat, and no power seats as advertised. I turned on the headlights to drive home and no XENON headlights as advertised.

Where I screwed up was at that moment I should have had the driver load the car back up and be done with it, I did not, I figured reputable honest people would take care of the problems, boy was I wrong.

I searched ebay for seats, I found some 6 and 8 way power seats for 1500.00, plus at this point my Porsche guy was starting to feel sorry for me and said he would do the install for 500.00.

To correctly do the Xenon lights, an inexpensive proper way without going to the Porsche Dealer would cost about 1500.00, Porsche wants over 8,000.00 for the seats labor and over 2200.00 labor for the headlights.

So, I will be out of pocket

Car drive out 24,000.00
Tires 1,100.00
30k Service 462.00
Radio 48.00
Key 350.00
Wheel Bearing 350.00
Seats (Cheap) 2,000.00
Headlights 1,500.00

Total 29,810.00

Now, you tell me this is a fair price for a 2003 Boxster S, I could have got a very nice used 911 Carerra Cab for that price.

Here is an e-mail I got from the salesman admitting they misreprented the car

Nothin I can do about the seats. They are partial power. We gve you two keys and a second new remote. It's a preowned car not new so we gave what we were given and even purchase a new remote because the other one was not working. Ill get with mark and wil get back to you for sure. It's a very nice car. Sorry it was misrepresented in some areas but that is a very nice Boxster S. I hope you will overall be very happy w / it
