SWATIllegal Towing Operations Conducted

This towing company is the ultimate scam. The drivers basically more or less towed my car that my girlfriend had been using from her apartment complex due to bad registration or something of that sort. The car is legally registered but the tags on the car either fell off or were stolen.in anycase, both myself and my girlfriend came upon the three SWAT employees who were beginning to load my car up onto a truck.

I identified myself as the owner of the vehicle, clearly and unambiguously. They in unison began spouting off about bad registration or something of that sort, but wherever I've lived, its always been clear that a vehicle cannot be towed when the owner is present and willing to take possession of the vehicle. I soon saw that debating with these three, one rather heavyset Hispanic male, a more slender Hispanic male, and a Hispanic female, and began to walk towards the management office to complain and contact the police. My girlfriend stayed behind with the car.

While I went into the office, the two males, as relayed by my girlfriend, began to say "Let's go, c'mon hurry up, we've gotta get out here", sounding more like typical car thieves than professional employees. They basically hauled ass to get out of there and by the time I was done talking with the manager, they had already left.

Now, I contacted the towing company that night and the woman on the line immediately became offensive and kept asking me how she could know that I wasn't lying. It was telling that she immediately began to accuse me of lying rather than accept that her company might be at fault.

Well besides my girlfriend, the manager of the apartments, several employees there and a couple that lives there all willingly acknowledge that we indeed made contact with the tow truck operators and that they in full violation of their own company's policies, as well as the law, decided to basically steal my car. I had to wait until Monday morning to speak to management (apparently nobody runs the company on weekends) and spoke to a lady who claimed to be a manager of some sort, and was told that someone would call me later.

Nobody called me well into the afternoon so I called SWAT Towing once more and this time spoke to another manager named Anthony. He said that he would look into the matter and call me back. After about 1/2 hour, I received a call from Anthony who said that he had spoken with the driver and that the driver flatly denied the whole thing and that Anthony had to side with him and could do nothing for me.

That goes beyond absurd, the fact that I can readily identify all 3 tow truck operator's, that there are several witnesses who saw and heard me speaking to these 3, makes this a truly ridiculous situation.

Basically the moral of this story is that this company can employ shady, underhanded people who can basically back up anything with an utter and absolute lie and be in the clear.

He did agree that if things went down the way I said they did, that it was illegal and against company policy. However, apparently having several witnesses is not enough to sway his mind to do the right thing, correct a wrong, and give back the vehicle that was illegally relocated.

Be warned, you may find yourself in this situation as well. Apparently SWAT Towing LLC has no interest in ethics nor integrity and the fact that my girlfriend has been left without any sort of transportation right before Christmas is pathetic. This is a disgusting act by a company only looking out for their bottom dollar and defending dishonest and manipulative employees.

I am currently seeking a legal remedy through this situation and am in contact with my attorney, as well as contacting with Hispanic advocacy groups as this sort of preying upon folks just trying to live their lives and do the right thing, goes beyond the pale. I'm not upset that the car was towed, if neither of us had been present, I wouldn't have protested, but towing a car while the owner and the operator are standing there, is incredibly shady.

As stated before, when dealing with SWAT Towing, be very careful, and when in doubt, don't discuss anything when anything of their employees, simply call the police and let them handle it. To expect them to show any honesty or decency is apparently expecting way too much.
