Damaged my truck while giving me an estimate for repairs, then refused to cover the damage

My outside drivers mirror was vandalized and I purchased a new mirror from Mountain View Chevrolet for $352.02. I installed the mirror myself and soon learned that the power mechanism behind the the mirror wasn't working properly, so I took the vehicle into the service technician at Mountain View Chevrolet. The service manager looked at it and then stated that he would have to remove the mirror to look at the small electric motors behind the mirror. He also stated that he didn't like to work with mirrors because they can break. I asked him if there was any other way to check it out and he said no. I told him that I needed to get it fixed, so he removed the mirror and found that the gears on the motor behind the mirror in fact were damaged. The service technician then wrote up a preliminary estimate for repair. The estimate was for $653.30. I asked if I could get credit or return the mirror that I had just purchased five days earlier ($352.02) since I would be getting a completely new mirror and housing assembly. I was told that since I only had my receipt but not the box it came in, I would not be able to do that and he stated that I could keep an extra mirror or try to sell it on e-bay. The service technician then walked back out to my truck and began to re-install the mirror that he had taken off and while doing so, he shattered the mirror. He stated out loud "that's why I hate to work on these things". Mountain View Chevrolet refuses to pay me for the damage they did to my truck, and have told me to take them to court if I don't like it. They have no regard for customer service. I have purchased my last vehicle from them.
