Jim Mooradian - Courtesty Imports Mazda Lied in order to sell me a car that I didn't want

Cars & Transport

I have just been screwed into buying a car I don't want by Jim Mooradian of Courtesy Imports Mazda in Henderson, Nevada. I was initially looking to purchase a 2008 Mazda Tribute for my girlfriend, and went through the usual process with the salesman and finance officers until we struck a deal.

The first interesting thing that happened: halfway through signing the papers I discovered that they were trying to sell me a front wheel drive when they knew I wanted a 4 wheel drive. I should have left the dealership right then and there. They went through the process of finding the model I wanted at a dealership in California, and re-printed all the purchase papers, which I signed.

I realized the next day (Friday) that my girlfriend also wanted a moonroof, so I called Jim Mooradian, the manager of the dealership, and told him the situation. He agreed to look for a 4WD model with a moonroof for me. Now, any reasonable person would see this as an agreement that my previous purchase would be cancelled - after all, the papers all refer to a specific VIN, so we can't use the originals if I'm getting a different vehicle.

Here is where the absolutely shoddy customer service began. I began checking for updates on Monday as to whether he had found a car or not. Every time we spoke was because I had to call him, and I was forced to leave a voicemail on the majority of my calls, which of course went un-returned. Never ONCE did Jim Mooradian take the initiative to contact me.

This went on until Wednesday, and keep in mind that I was led to believe that he was searching dealerships for the car I wanted since Friday. So five days passed, counting Friday, and I decided I'd had enough of this poor customer service. I called Jim Mooradian, was lucky enough to actually get through to him, and politely told him that I just wanted out and that I would like my $1500 deposit back.

This is when Jim became very rude, and told me that it was too late and that everything was already paid for on the vehicle (the one we both acknowledged that I didn't want), AND that it had already been on its way from California to Boise (where my girlfriend was)! Still, I attempted to reason with him, and he called me a liar two times during our conversation and hung up on me. Further attempts to contact him resulted in never-ending hold music, where before it would go to voicemail after a couple rings.

Now I realize that I did indeed sign the papers and legally committed to the original vehicle, so the law is probably on Jim Mooradian's side. That doesn't change the fact that I was mislead into thinking I would be striking up a deal for a different vehicle, and therefore different papers. It doesn't change the fact that Jim Mooradian never contacted me to tell me that he went ahead with the deal on a vehicle I didn't want. It doesn't change the fact that Jim Mooradian didn't contact me to inform me that he had initiated the transport of the vehicle I didn't want, all while keeping me under a false impression that he was searching for a different vehicle. It doesn't change the fact when politely asking to cancel the whole deal, Jim Mooradian insulted me, hung up on me, and prevented further contact with me.

It doesn't change the fact the Jim Mooradian the epitome of the stereotypical slimy car salesman - he is amoral, unethical, greedy, and incredibly rude. And don't take my word for it, just look at this corroboration:

A Google search of "Jim Mooradian" is what led me to discover usacomplaints.com. Isn't that telling? Thanks for hearing me out, and be careful out there.
