Cleburne Motorsports
Slow delivery, false advertising, no communication

Cars & Transport

On April 19, I contacted Cleburne Motor Sports in Cleburne, Texas, about a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee they had advertised for sale on the internet. The ad contained several photos of the Jeep. We emailed some questions we had, and on April 23 we signed a purchase agreement for the vehicle. Our check for the purchase was delivered to the dealer on April 26.

We then experienced delays on the dealer's part in actually shipping the vehicle to us in Iowa. The dealer had told us it would take one week to deliver the vehicle. We had to contact them several times. When the vehicle finally arrived 3 weeks later, the first thing we noticed was that the tires were nearly bald. The tires shown in the photos in the ad showed practically new tires.

The next thing we noticed was that the front bumper had been cracked, the entire front grill was loose and the lights behind it were damaged. Again, the photos showed no damage to the bumper. The dealer had told us there would be insurance to cover any damage during shipping.

Finally, we also noticed that the vehicle delivered was apparently not the one shown in the internet ad photos. The ad said the vehicle was a Hemi, and the vehicle we received was in fact a, but we noticed that the word Hemi is attached to the side of the vehicle in big chrome letters by the manufacturer. The photos on the internet ad did not show Hemi on the side of the car, indicating to us the photos shown in the ad were not photos of the vehicle we bought.

We suspect the dealer showed photos in the ad of a different vehicle than he sold us, or at the very least showed pictures of a vehicle with new tires, then switched them for old, bald tires once the sale was made.

We emailed and called the dealer, Robert Cleburne, about these problems several times, but each time there was no response. We sent them an estimate of what it would cost to fix the bumper and replace the tires, and asked them to contact us to work something out or we would have to file complaints. They have been completely ignoring us.

After initially waiting for 3 weeks for the Jeep to be delivered we now have to pay out of our pockets $1255 to repair any damages and replace the tires. This company was very poor about communicating with us before we received the Jeep and has now lost all contact with us. We hope this report will save other people from suffering a big headache and loss of money by dealing with Cleburne Motorsports.
